Stubborn Jamu

Kunyit-asam is often synonymous with the word “jamu” - the king of all jamus - and is the one that I am most familiar with. Therefore I chose to concentrate my research on kunyit-asam. I asked Mbak Narsih for her recipe, who gave me brief instructions and an ingredient list with no approximate measurements, but here is what I used:

≈ 150g of turmeric
≈ 150g of tamarind
≈ 50g of gula Melaka
≈ 700ml of water

Salt to taste.
