Mapping Red & White

Live performance
London, 2022

Mapping Red and White is a 2 hour long durational/endurance performance. The performance begins in front of London’s Indonesian Embassy, situated 5 minutes from St. James Park. From there, I begin my trek upwards, north, towards Central Saint Martins in Granary Square, Kings Cross. Dressed in my kebaya and tightly-wrapped sarong, white and red respectively, I walk through several popular tourist landmarks of London. A journey that passes through important educational institutions no less, connotes several, figurative journeys: travelling from Indonesia to the UK, advancing from my prior state of ignorance to being educated on my positionality, and also growing from teenager to adult.
